...I'm taking a study abroad trip around the world in the fall (Spain, Ghana, South Africa, Mauritius, India, Viet Nam, China, & Japan). I'm looking for a camera that is good for beginners, takes high quality pictures, isn't huge, and won't break my wallet.
Any ideas?
What do you think about the Canon Powershot S51S?
Thanks!!
"The PowerShot S5 IS is an excellent camera. However, it's discontinued. Fortunately, there is a successor of it, the SX10 IS. The SX10 IS features 10 Megapixels and 20x optical zoom. It costs you around $370.
If you want a smaller one, consider the PowerShot SX200 IS. It offers 12 MP and 12x optical zoom. Its price is about $350, and it's available in 3 colors.
Good luck with your photography!"

...I need a camera that is basically nothing past $500 :S
I'm thinking of a Nikon D40, but I will still have trouble getting that type of money from my parents. Is there any camera that is cheap with a really good manual focus? I really need it for a photography starter project, and I can't use the one I have now. Thanks in advance!
"I recommend an SLR for a photography class. The D40 with a lens is selling for about $410 on Amazon. Compare at B&H and Beach. Beware of "unbelievable prices", because they are.
The D40 is a great camera."
