Is anyone a camera expert?...

...I've been interested in photography, I know some stuff about it, I took a photography class.
All the good cameras are over $1,000 and my budget is, hoping to be, less than $300.
Any good suggestions for a camera?
I've been looking on ebay cuz that's probably the only place I'll find a good camera for cheap.

Thanks in advance.

"Get an entry level DSLR
They usually run at about 500-600
I know that is way over your budged but trust me if you actually have an interest in photography and not just taking snap shots you NEED DSLR
Or, what most professionals suggest is start out with an old film slr camera. Old film cameras are a good way to learn the fundamentals and are a lot cheaper. In fact google Nikkormat, you could probably find a used one for 75-300 dollars. It is an old film camera from the 60s, it was given to photojournalists in vietnam and it is VERY VERY DURABLE you could drop it off a building and it probably woudln't break, i wouldn't suggest trying it though. Don't think that cuz it is old and shoots film it is poor quality, most film cameras, even from the 60s, are much sharper than modern digital cameras."

I'm looking to buy a PROFESSIONAL camera, not a regular digital. PLEASE ANSWER!!?...

...Okay, in December i just got a new camera.. At the time i was interested in photography but needed something SUPER cheap, so i got some peace of crap camera for like 100, or something. Now i am really interested in getting a PROFESSIONAL camera, one to take photography pictures, but i am also keeping my other camera to take pictures with friends or whatever.
I know this is a little iffy, but i was thinking under 300.. But can be over, but lets be real im 13 years old and my salary is 50-60 a week i need this before the 4th of July.
I need one with great quality, good zoom, and things like that.
Please Help, thanks.

"It's not possible to get a "Professional" camera for under $300. However, you can get a decent entry-level DSLR for that price on Craigslist. Any SLR will provide you with the tools to take creative photographs since most of the artistry is in your brain and not the camera. For new cameras, it's hard to find anything other than compacts for less than $300. It is very very hard to do a lot of creative things with a compact. The laws of physics are against you. For example, the shall depth of field pictures that people take where the background is blurry can only be done with larger lenses."

Cheap(er) Digital SLR Camera?...

...I want to buy a digital SLR camera in the near future. I've used one before, but all I have is a point-and-shoot. I'm a student, not a professional, and I don't need the best camera on the market by any means. What is a good, affordable brand or model for a "first SLR"?

Another thing is that if I cannot afford a brand new camera, I might look into buying a used one. Would you advise against this? If not, what is a good place to get a nice used, camera?

"As long as the camera is in good shape and you can not find any problem with it, you can enjoy it.

You may want to go into a camera store and hold a Nikon or Canon DSLR in your hands and see which one you like the best.

If you can afford $450, you can actually buy a new camera and standard lens.

If you look on http://www.dpreview.com, you will be able to find one that will provide you joy shooting great photos.

What you may find is that taking a class in photography will give you a much better idea of how to use a fully adjustable camera before you spend any money on a digital SLR camera"

Good, cheap film camera?...

...Hey. So the other day I was playing with a friend's film camera, it was just a totally new, awesome experience. I have a lumix fz28 digital, which I love, but I love the feeling of focusing manually and setting everything up just the way I want it. So, what's a good but cheap film camera? And where could I find it? I'm looking preferably under $200. Thanks!

"What format did you have in mind?

An RB67 with 90mm is about $200.

A Calumet 4x5" with 210mm is about $200.

A Nikon N90s with a 50mm f/1.8 is about $200.

Used cameras can be found at Adorama, KEH and eBay."
